A thought on happiness

I saw this quote: “You will never be happy if you continue to search for what happiness consists of. You will never live if you are looking for the meaning of life.”

It got me thinking about clients I have that always, always, always are looking for the deeper meaning of life. I used to ask the question myself. I realize it’s part of the human condition.

I have also found that meaning comes in increments, it’s what we give to things–what we MAKE something mean. It’s not a huge bolt of lightning striking you on the head.

Happiness and meaning come from being present, authentic, participating in the momentNOW. Being fully present is difficult for people, but the more often you do it, the more often you feel happy, whole and that life is inherently good.

The more often you are authentic in where you stand, what you feel and what you state, the happier you are overall. No one can argue with your truth and if they try to, they are choosing a battle that can’t be won.

Participating means, don’t wait. DO SOMETHING that takes you toward how you want to live your life….your goals. Then you get to experience a sense of fulfillment!
